The new Pope has been selected... So.
Benedict XVI. a.k.a. Josef Ratinzger (78, Germany) was close to John Paul II. He was there when John Paul II was selected as one of the only three remaining cardinals. They worked together on few things and were friends.
As said, there is never a bad Pope selected - the Holy spirit selects him with the cardinals.
In radio, some people after they heard this, called and asked how many percent of the voting is on cardinals and how many of the Holy spirit. I think it's fifty-fifty.
I think that John Paul would be glad to see Josef Ratzinger as Benedict XVI. Germany is strange choice, IMO. I though that the new pope will be black
